Tasks - group work

1. The first task consists of finding examples of healthy food and recipes, and creating/showing one using PodOmatic. This task is group work.
    1. Watch a video with subtitles about a healthy food (Loescher English Corner 3 - 5 Healthy food_with subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FciXmsGW3D8). We will comment the general idea of the video in class.
    2. Go to one blog that speaks about food and look for a healthy recipe (here you have the links of some blogs about healthy recipes: Healthy Recipes http://healthyrecipesblogs.com/ , Skinnytaste http://www.skinnytaste.com/ , My New Roots http://www.mynewroots.org/site/).
    3. Think about another recipe that includes at least one fruit or vegetable and record it in podomatic as we have learnt during this week - ask for help at home or look it up if you don’t know any. (Here you have some examples: Kiwi salad, grilled courgettes, Crocodile/vegetable sandwich...)
2. This task consists of looking for information about the food pyramid, sharing a wiki and creating a mind map with all the information.This task is group work.
  1. Look for information in different resources (internet, books, videos…) about the food pyramid. For example: : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q413VcqOlyU, http://www.kidzworld.com/article/5528-a-guide-to-eating-healthy-with-the-food-pyramid
  2. Go to www.wikispaces.com and log in with a group name. Share all the information looked in different resources.
  3. Create a mind map classifying different types of food (grains, fruits, fats and sweets, dairy…). Use www.mindmup.com.


3. This task consist of practicing with the food pyramid though different types of activities:
  1. Do the fill in the gaps activity created with hot potatoes individually. You can look for information in any resource to do the activit
  2. Complete the questionnaire created in moodle in pairs. For this activity you can´t look for any information.
  3. Create your own questionnaire in pairs, you have to log in this webpage https://es.surveymonkey.com/ . The questionnaire should have between 8 and 10 questions, you can use any kind of question.  You can look at the mindmap created in the previous session and use the information described there. 4. With this activity we will create some questions and tables in groups. Then each one will fill in the one and after that in small groups they will discuss about the topic.   
  1. By using the Excel program you will create a table in which you will write the food pyramid products that you have already learnt and practice, and the days of the week. You will fill the table during a week at home.

  1. In the mean time, in the class, in different groups, one for each food pyramid stages, you will create a survey with some questions about healthy food. For this task you will use MonkeySurvey. Then you will pass the survey to the whole class. You can ask questions such as:

Do you think you eat healthy?
What of this food do you eat the most?
  1. chocolate
  2. fruits
  3. bread
  4. yogurt
How many fruits do you eat a day?


  1. At the end, in small groups you will put in common all the questions and table you have filled in and you will talk about the results you have get, your diet, if you think it is healthy, if not, what would you change about it…


5. Rubric

The teacher has done a evaluation rubric to assess children. The teacher has observed how every pupil has worked in groups and individually. From that point, pupils will be assessed individually but taking into account how did they work in groups. Also, it will be very important what have they learnt. In this evaluation rubric, the maximum mark is 10 and the minimum is 2’5. Here is the evaluation rubric:
